Anyone for lunch?

Sunday lunch that is – in Marlborough …
On Sunday morning we went on a jaunt over to Marlborough. When we arrived, the Armistice Day service had just finished and the crowds flocked down into the town splendid in their uniforms and medals, poppies and Sunday best. The ovens were out of action at the Castle & Ball so we trooped a little further down the wide busy market street to another lovely pub – The Oak – where Sunday lunch was served complete with homemade Yorkshire pud & gravy – what a treat!
Polly’s Tearooms set the mood for the festive season, with gingerbread houses and candy canes – inside was busy and the counter held the most amazing array of homemade goodies including the largest cottage loaves I’ve ever seen.
Beautiful buildings, wonderful lunch and a leisurely wander up and down in brilliant, warm, November sunshine.
It’s so good to get out and have a bit of a treat every so often.
