Winter in Wales …

Last weekend I made a lightning dash to Wales, to see Dad. The weather was kind, in a Welsh sort of way – not pouring with rain, just a bit misty up in the hills and decidedly chilly, but not frozen.
I like to take a jaunt around my old stomping grounds and this time we took a trip to Newcastle Emlyn (best patchwork barn), Lampeter (best quilting shop), Tregaron and Strata Florida, then on to Aberystwyth to see the starlings as they come in to roost on the pier at dusk every day in the winter. Ending up, as always, in Aberaeron for the best fish and chips in the world (this is not an exaggeration)!
The camera was fully charged so …
The photos look so grey, don’t they? How different it would all look in the summer, with a bright light and clear blue sky. I always enjoy spending some time at home though, whatever the time of year. If you’re thinking of booking up a holiday cottage, or B&B in West Wales, then do go to Brenni holidays, at Nant-y-Brenni Farm. Hazel and John are charming hosts and I feel as though the farm is a real home-from-home. The nearby coast is amazing and inland the scenery is fantastic. There are so many market towns and villages, excellent shops and restaurants and undoubtedly (in my opinion, as someone who enjoys a treat), the best fish and chips anywhere!
Just about to sort out my stock for Sunday’s Retro and Vintage Market in Winchester. Do pop along – I’ve been busy restoring and making!
