Mosaic mania …

I’ve been playing around …

Favourite crochet pictures (some of them)!

and joining in the fun that everyone’s having with mosaics!  I’ve had a few attempts at these, from creating my own in a photo editing program, to creating albums and compiling collage photos – all rather time-consuming and frustrating.

Then I read Sarah’s recommendation at Down by the Sea and had a bash at Mosaic Maker.  Thank you, Sarah – you’re right, it’s brilliant!  So, here goes – there’s no stopping me now! Here are some of my favourite photos from last year …

Phew!  I’m all mosaic’ed out for a bit.

Look what’s just arrived in today’s post …

Most beautiful woodland scene brooch

Most beautiful woodland scene brooch

It’s a tiny brooch, much smaller than in the photo and very cheaply produced from a celluloid material, probably in the 50’s?  Have you ever seen one like it?  If you know about these then do, please, let me know as I’m no expert – but I do know what I like and I LOVE this!  I guess it’s based on the idea of an ivory carving and to its credit, the detailing is exquisite.  I won the bid on e-bay yesterday at lunchtime and it’s just popped through the letterbox!   Oh, complete joy!

And I’ve finally finished my crochet dala horse and taken it for a wander down the garden for a photo or two …

I’m delighted with how it’s turned out and last night I picked up my hook again and started making more blocks for my huge Carnival WIP.

That’s all for today, folks …

Have fun!

Hello, I really like your crochet dalahäst, do you have any pattern or guidelines how to make it?

  • adaliza says:

Hi Lina – I started at the nose with a magic circle of double crochet and then just winged it. It wasn’t something I’d want to repeat in a hurry and took me hours but the result still makes me smile, so worth it in the end. Good luck. The wooden base came from ikea but I don’t know if they still have them, it was a year or so ago.

Thank you for your answer, and for your guidelines. I will try to make one 🙂
