Oh boy …

have I enjoyed watching Wimbledon this year …
We’ve stolen a weekend away in the sunshine, and it’s been amazing. Yesterday, we watched the British Lions win the rugby test series in Australia. The Harbour Inn was heaving and the cheers could be heard right through the village.
Well done boys – a brilliant triumph and a thoroughly great win in Sydney.
Then yesterday afternoon, I tripped in and out from the sunshine to see the Women’s Tennis Final which was a great win for Marion Bartoli though I felt some anguish for Sabine Lisicki who had tried so hard. But today’s Men’s Tennis Final was riveting – I hardly left my spot on the sofa! Brilliant – I so wanted Andy Murray to win.
We’ll be trailing home very soon but this has been the most wonderful few days. Do you like my new sunhat?
I had to raid the local charity shop when we arrived. I hadn’t thought to pack a sunhat in for our few days away – knowing British summers, as I do! I was in for a proper surprise – it was baking hot – non-stop sunshine from dawn till dusk!
For the grand sum of £1.50 plus an extra 50p for a ball of orange crochet cotton, I have a beautiful, straw sunhat complete with orange crochet daisies. They will probably have some buttons or beads added to the centre of each flower, but for the moment, it’s job done! I even wore it out for my walk with the girls this evening.
So, I don’t have anything very much to show and tell over at Wendy’s Handmade Harbour Handmade Monday, but I’ll leave you with our view from the patio, as the sun prepares to go to sleep, behind the cottages on the hill, on the other side of the harbour.
What a brilliant weekend. I hope you’ve enjoyed all the sporting excitement too.
