Before the course –
When you sign up, Adaliza will ask you about the theme for your quilt and your fabric choices. A bespoke quilt kit will be cut out for you, ready to sew on the day.
Please let Adaliza know if you would like to use one of her 2 available sewing machines.
Tea/coffee and cake/cookies will be available for snacks throughout the day. Please bring your own packed lunch though if you forget this in your patchwork excitement, Costa Coffee and Waitrose are a short 5 minute drive away! Please note that toilet facilities are located in a separate building accessible only via steps.
On the day –
Arrival from 9.30 am so that you can set up your own sewing machine or get to know the machine that you may have pre-booked for the day. Bring your own sewing notions – scissors, thimble, rotary cutter, unpicker and anything else that you like to use when sewing. A rotary cutter will be available if you don’t have one.
- Course Introduction – safe sewing, patchwork basics, neat seams and nesting
- Stitch your Patchwork – you will lay out your pieces, create your blocks and stitch your patchwork quilt top. Adaliza will give you lots of individual advice, hints and tips along the way. Some of you may even add the border to your patchwork by the end of the afternoon.Your patchwork will measure approx 80 cm square.
- At the end of the afternoon, choose whether you would like to book for the follow-up workshop that will cover making a quilt sandwich, quilting techniques and adding a binding. The follow-up workshop for this course will be held on 22 January 2017 from 10 – 1.00 pm.
