St David’s Day
St David is the Patron Saint of Wales and today, 1st March, is his feast day. When I was growing up in Wales, it was traditional for the children to dress up in national costume and have a day off school …
and many Welsh folk today, wherever they find themselves today, will wear a daffodil …
I’ve given my wonderful dragon a bit of a dust, to commemorate the national day – isn’t he a beauty? He was a Christmas present from Himself and was created by Richard Pell, a brilliant metalwork artist. Love his gold-tipped teeth, tail and claws!
I’m off to turn over all the calendar pages now – something I always look forward to each month! I’m going to mark up 20th March as it’s the first day of Spring, though there are pancakes to look forward to on 4th March Shrove Tuesday and Mother’s Day on 30th when there’ll be extra hour of daylight to look forward to as the clocks move forward. Along with my first two fairs of the year and a couple of planned jaunts, it looks like being a busy month!
I feel a list coming on – Things to do in March …
But first, there’s that hot cuppa in my new PiP mug – the very best way to start the day!
What are your plans for March?
Happy St David’s Day
