The quilt was commissioned by her grandparents and tells a story.  With Balinese fabric included as her parents first met whilst on holiday in Bali, little houses as Daddy is an architect, I Love London because that’s where the family live and where little Isla was born and the bumble bees – well that’s another story but they’re a significant choice for her quilt!

It’s a quilt that will grow with her – perfect for her first bed.

and this morning, it looked a treat hanging up for a photoshoot on the new ‘design wall’ in my studio…

Whimsical Woodland – a finished quilt

09/10/2015 § 4 Comments

A very special Ta-Dah moment and a walk in the woods …

1

Deep in a magical woodland, secretive creatures play beneath the branches, treading carefully to avoid the tiny flowers that bloom on the woodland floor.

4

Autumn hues glow amidst the blues and browns.
The very top of the leaf canopy catches the bright sunshine – vibrant green.

7

How many creatures can you see?
Foxes, hares, bunnies, birdies, squirrels and butterflies.
Tiny bird houses hang in the trees, laden with apples.

9

Magical paths wind between the blocks – free motion quilting – adding to the texture of the forest floor.

I’ve absolutely loved designing and creating this quilt – a commission for a little person who’s about to enter this world amidst the Autumn leaves.

So many thanks to new friends and visitors who have popped by over recent weeks from Crazy Mom’s Finish it up Friday.  I’ve so enjoyed visiting other sites and will try to leave more comments this week. I’m also linking up to Quilt Matters for TGIFF and there are some awesome quilts over there too.

It’s busy here at the moment – building works at home and never a dull moment!

Thanks for popping by – do please leave a comment if you’re online and if you’re in Alton for the Makers’ Market tomorrow, then please say Hello.

Have a great weekend.

I’ve come away to spend some time by the sea and the collies and I have been blessed with the most amazing week of weather – high tides, sunshine, fishing boats and beach walks, wide blue skies and magical sunsets …

A quilt has been finished – I sat outside overlooking the harbour whilst hand-stitching the binding and then promptly took the quilt for a walk up onto the coastal path, for a late afternoon photoshoot …

and I’m hoping to link up with Crazy Mom Quilts Finish it up Friday later on today.  The quilt is a commission and perfectly captures the colours of the waves, sky, sails, white horses and seagulls.

Walks along the coastal path every day have meant that precious memories have been revisited and laid peacefully to rest …
